My Top Three NBA Point Guards

Over the next few weeks, I am going to be going through each position and ranking my top three for each one. Today, I am going to be going through NBA point guards. I am going to be basing this off of this season only, so Damian Lillard might be one of the best players career-wise at the point guard, he is not included because of the “down year" he is having. Argue with me on whether these are accurate or not.

Three

• Tyrese Haliburton

Awkward shooting form does not matter to Tyrese. He was already an all-star last year so, I can’t say it is a shock but he is having another breakout year. On the season he is averaging 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 11 ASSISTS. The last number is the craziest. 11 assists a game is insane, but he is also only averaging 2 turnovers a game which is over a 5 assists/turnover ratio which is amazing. He is also 49%, 40% from 3, and 85% from the line. The shooting splits and assist numbers are what put him above Stephen Curry.

• Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

I was close to putting Shai at one until I looked at the other person’s stats but I could see it going either way. Shai is carrying a team, not many people saw being this good to a top-three seed in the competitive Western Conference. He is putting up 31 points a night (second in the league) along with 5 rebounds and 6 assists. He also leads the league in win shares over Nikola Jokic which is impressive. I wanted to put Shai first but I do not think he compares to what the number one guy has been doing.

• Luka Doncic

Everyone knows how good Luka is and how good he has been for his entire professional career, but this season he is on another level. On the year he is averaging 34 ppg which is leading the league, 8.8 rebounds which is top 20, and 9.5 assists which is third in the association. Yes his averages are amazing and probably the best we have seen in a while, but he also has the individual games to go with them. He scored 73 points in a game last month which awarded him 4th in most in a single game, but it also came with a game score of 64.0 which is the second-best ever behind Micheal Jordan with 64.4 when he had 69, 18, and 6.

This season has been insane in every aspect, but especially the offensive side of the ball. Some people (my dad) hate the scoring and call it the No Defense Association 😐. But I think it is awesome. I do believe that come playoff time, people will start to sit in that chair and defend with their best ability so the scoring will be lowered. That being said, these are my top three point guards in the NBA this season. Tyrese Haliburton, Shai, and Luka. Let me know what you think of my rankings!
