Annunoby to the Garden!
OG Annunoby is now a Knick...Who won the trade?
πOG Annunoby has been dealt to the New York Knicksπ
Raptors forward OG Annunoby has officially been traded to the New York Knicks. The full details of the trade are as follows:
π½Knicks Receive:
OG Annunoby
Precious Achiuwa
Malachi Flynn
π¨π¦Raptors Receive:
RJ Barrett
Immanuel Quickley
2024 2nd Round Pick (via Detroit)
For those of you who do not know much about the NBA. OG has been in trade talks for the last year or so. He would probably fit on any team with little to no repercussions. He is a great perimeter defender and a decent offensive player. He wonβt take touches away from your team's best player but will compliment them on both ends of the court. So far this year he is averaging 15.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.6 apg on 48% from the field and 37% from three. I think he will fit amazing next to a smaller guard in Jalen Brunson but it will be interesting to see the others around him. He spaces better than RJ so I think this will benefit the Knicks. On the other side of the trade, the Raptors got RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and a 2024 2nd round pick. At first glance, it seems like a win-win but then I thought about the loss of Immanuel Quickley. He was the Knicks sparkplug off the bench and now they donβt have as good of a scorer for the second unit. They still have good pieces to come off the bench and they are going to need them to step up and score the points they lose without Quickley. Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo are going to need to take more shots and hopefully fill in for the 15ppg they lose in Quickley. In my opinion, I think the Raptors would have won the trade if they had gotten a first-round pick. They do get the Pistons 2nd rounder which will be the 31st pick, but a first would have been nice. If RJ Barrett can improve on his consistency, especially from the 3-point line, then the Raptors will 100% have won the trade but it will take time to really make a decision. This is definitely a move to raise the ceiling of the Knicks in hopes of going deep in the playoffs to or even past the ECF. As for the Raptors, I think they are headed towards a rebuild, and I hope they do. With young talent everywhere, they need to trade Pascal Siakam for a couple of firsts, and maybe a young player to fully embrace the rebuild. Build around Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett and develop other pieces to get a strong roster in years to come. Let me know what you think about the trade.
